Self-Guided Computer Training
Self-guided training is available for use on library computers anytime, but the computer lab is reserved for this purpose every Wednesday from 9 - 11 a.m. |
Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing: Begin Keyboarding using tutorials demonstrating correct hand position, keystrokes and sequenced lessons. Self-paced in the Computer Lab.
Learning Express Library: Online PRACTICE TESTS for academic, civil service, GED, military, and professional licensing and certification. Academic tests available range from Adult Basic Skills Tests and the GED to college and graduate school entrance exams including the ACT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, and the SAT. Practice tests for TAKS 4th and 8th grade math and reading are included, as are THEA mathematics, reading comprehension, and writing practice tests. Skills improvement tests with Spanish instructions are provided. Texas real estate tests are also available. |

| Mousework--An Intro to Computer Basics: A basic introduction to the computer. Learn to use a mouse -- the first step to mastering the world of computers. Learn mouse techniques required to use many computer programs. This class is designed for those who have never touched a computer! |

| Microsoft Office |
Introduction to Office: An introduction to Office 2010 using the word processing program Word. Learn about ribbons and command tabs you will see throughout Office 2010 programs. Save your work and take a floppy disk with you for future use. This class requires a certain amount of typing. Prerequisite: Mouseworks--Introduction to Computer Basics or basic computer experience.
Introduction to Word: Learn the basic elements in Microsoft Word 2010 word processing software. Prerequisite: Introduction to Office or basic computer experience.
Introduction to Excel: Learn the basic elements of Microsoft Excel 2010 spreadsheet software. Create a spreadsheet using formulas and chart the data. Prerequisite: Introduction to Word.
Introduction to Publisher: Learn the basic use of publishing software that will allow for the creation of specialty items such as greeting cards, flyers, brochures, calendars, and much more. Prerequisite: Intermediate Word.
Introduction to PowerPoint: An introduction to the graphics program Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. Learn how to create professional looking slide presentations using WordArt, ClipArt and other special effects found in this powerful program. Prerequisites: Introduction to Word. |
