Child Safety Fee Program
Local non-profit organizations operating within the City of Victoria may be eligible to apply for grant funding for child safety and/or child abuse intervention/prevention programs or drug and alcohol abuse intervention and prevention programs for children.
In order to be eligible for funds from this program, the organization applying must be a non-profit, non-taxing organization or entity operating within the City limits. The funds must go towards programs or organizations that are designed to enhance child safety, including child abuse prevention and/or intervention or drug and/or alcohol abuse prevention for children, defined as under the age of 18 years of age.
The City of Victoria accepts applications from non-profit organizations operating within the City limits of the City of Victoria whose program fits into one or more of the above categories. Applications are reviewed and evaluated by the City's Child Safety Fee committee. The evaluation will be based on a mathematical formula using objective data submitted as part of this application. This evaluation process will be the basis of the committee's recommendation to the City Council for Child Safety Funds awards. Applicants will have an opportunity to appeal the recommendation, in writing, prior to Council’s consideration. City Council will make the final decision on your request.
Workshop Attendance: All applicants are highly encouraged to attend one (1) of the three (3) available applicant workshops sessions available during the open application period. Attendance at one of these workshops will factor into the calculation for your total requested award.
Document Compliance: Applications should be submitted in their entirety. All sections of the application should be filled out completely, and all supporting documents requested in the application must be provided.
Credibility and Transparency: Supporting documentation must be clear and concise. Financial documents should have supporting information related to expected expenditures for the requested funds. All highlighted expenses in the applicant’s submitted budget must be equal to the amount requested by the applicant on their application.
Units of Service Delivered: Applicants must provide information showing the projected number of units of service delivered or provided to children who reside within the City of Victoria.
Unduplicated # of Children Served: Applicants must provide information showing the projected number of unduplicated children residing within the City of Victoria city limits. For the purposes of this program, children are defined as those under the age of 18 years of age.
The City of Victoria Municipal Court will be hosting three applicant workshop sessions regarding the Child Safety Application process on the following dates:
- August 25th at 5:30 pm
- September 1st at 11:30 am
- September 9th at 5:30 pm
Organizations who are interested in applying can attend in-person at 107 W. Juan Linn Street in Municipal Court Chambers or virtually through Zoom. Attendance at an Applicant Workshop is optional but will be considered favorably during the application review process.
