A rusty chain extends deep into a concrete pit with water flowing into itThe City of Victoria is applying for a funding allocation through the Community Development Block Grant-Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program. This federal funding is administered by the Texas General Land Office and must be used to protect communities from the effects of hurricanes, flooding and other natural disasters.

What’s in the application

The City is applying for funding for the following projects:

  • Lone Tree Acres Drainage Improvement Project: To construct a drainage outfall and regrade open ditches in the Lone Tree Acres Subdivision. This project will protect properties from flooding, open new areas for development and improve the life expectancy of the streets.
  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Water & Wastewater Improvement Project: To implement new monitoring equipment for the City’s water system, which will allow the City to more quickly identify and address problems, such as the water loss that occurred during Winter Storm Uri in 2021.
  • New Influent Screen Facility Project at the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant: To add new screening equipment at the regional wastewater treatment plant, which will help the plant to operate efficiently during stormy conditions and prevent blockages.
