Kids of all ages are invited to cast their lines at the newly renovated Riverside Park duck pond during a kids’ fishing camp hosted by the City of Victoria at 11 a.m. Feb. 17, immediately following the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the duck pond.
The event is free, but space is limited and registration is required. Residents can sign their kids up at www.victoriatx.gov/kidsfish.
What’s included
Volunteers will help kids fish in the Riverside Park duck pond.
The City of Victoria Parks & Recreation will provide bait and tackle, along with a limited number of fishing poles for kids to use.
Parks & Recreation will provide hot dogs, and the Convention & Visitors Bureau will provide drinks.
Adults are welcome but must have a valid Texas fishing license. Children fishing with adult supervision do not require a license.
About the ribbon-cutting ceremony
Prior to the start of the fishing camp, the City will host a public ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Feb. 17 to celebrate the renovation of the Riverside Park duck pond.
The free event will feature guest speakers from the City, the Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation and the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. The ribbon-cutting will be livestreamed on Facebook at City of Victoria, Texas – Government.
