Countless residents and their four-legged friends have come to play and make new friends at Riverside Bark since the dog park opened last year. Now, the City is planning to pay tribute to a dedicated local Girl Scout and others who helped to make the park a reality.

The City of Victoria will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Riverside Bark at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. This free event is open to the public.

As part of the ceremony, the City will highlight the commemorative bricks that were sold by Girl Scout Izzy Drane and her family to raise funds for the park. Each brick is inscribed in honor of a pet.

The event will feature guest speakers from the City and the Victoria Sales Tax Development Corporation, as well as Izzy’s family.

After the ceremony, residents and their dogs are invited to stick around for a “Red Car-PET” dog parade and photo opportunities. Dogs must be leashed when not inside the dog park.

Crews will install the commemorative bricks, along with new entryway signage, at Riverside Bark during the next two weeks.

The front gates to the park will be closed while the crews are working. However, both the small-dog and large-dog areas of the park will still be accessible from the side entrances.
