Benjamin Lake has been hired as the head golf professional at Riverside Golf Course. In this role, he will oversee the management of Riverside Golf Course, including tee times, booking and hosting tournaments, inventory and financial reports. Lake is a Class A Professional Golf Association member with years of experience in tournament management, staff leadership and member relations. He has served at multiple courses across South Texas.
Samantha Schulte has been hired as the assistant director of Information Technology. In this role, she will support the director in planning, coordinating and implementing the City’s technology infrastructure and services. She will provide daily operational leadership; assist in the development of policies; and oversee key departmental functions to ensure secure, efficient, and responsive IT operations. Schulte has over 18 years of technical experience, including five years of experience directing large IT environments. Her skill set includes hands-on technical resolution, infrastructure design and management, and department-level strategic planning and budgeting.
John A. Smith has been hired as the Surface Water Treatment Plant manager for Public Works. In this role, he will oversee all operations, maintenance staff and activities involved in the intake, treatment and distribution of water supplies for the City. Smith has over 20 years of experience operating surface water treatment systems, working with plants ranging in size from 1 million gallons per day to 50 million gallons. He has held many positions within the utility industry, starting as an operator and working his way into managing surface water treatment facilities.
