The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking input on Connecting Texas 2050, a long-range plan that will guide transportation priorities in Texas through the year 2050.

Residents will have two opportunities to fill out a survey providing input on the plan: during an in-person open house and through a virtual public meeting.

About the survey

The survey asks residents to rate different types of transportation strategies in six categories:

  • Improve safety and security
  • Maintain and preserve transportation infrastructure
  • Improve mobility, resilience and reliability
  • Enhance multimodal connectivity
  • Support economic vitality
  • Promote stewardship

For each category, residents are invited to choose three different types of strategies to help meet that need. For example, strategies to improve mobility include expanding public transit, encouraging ridesharing or improving highway capacity.

Open house at Victoria College Emerging Technology Complex

The TxDOT Yoakum District will host an open house 4:30-6 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Victoria College Emerging Technology Complex, 7403 Lone Tree Road, Meeting Hall 101.

Residents will be able to learn more about Connecting Texas 2050, ask questions and fill out the survey.

Residents who need language or disability accommodations should contact TxDOT at 512-271-2025 by 4 p.m. Oct. 20.

Virtual public meeting

TxDOT will also host a virtual public meeting online through Dec. 15 at www.connectingtexas2050.com. Residents can view the same educational materials that will be available at the in-person open house before filling out the survey online.

Take the Household Travel Survey

As a reminder, the TxDOT Yoakum District is still seeking respondents for the Household Travel Survey.

While Connecting Texas 2050 addresses broad goals for the entire state, the Household Travel Survey is focused on local transportation planning.

ETC Institute, the third-party company conducting the survey, is offering Visa prepaid cards up to $50 for taking the survey.
