Residents will have a chance to elect a mayor during the May 3 election.
Filing for the City Council election closed at 5 p.m. Feb. 14. The following candidates filed for election:
- Mayor: Duane Crocker, Jacob “Saucey” Sauseda
- Super District 5: Andrew Young
- Super District 6: Mark Loffgren
Because City Council Super Districts 5 and 6 only attracted one candidate each, the candidates will be declared automatic winners, although their names will still appear on the ballot.
The mayoral election will be conducted by the Victoria County Elections Administrator.
Dates to remember
- Deadline to register to vote: April 3
- In-person early voting begins: April 22
- Last day to apply for ballot by mail: April 22
- Last day of in-person early voting: April 29
- Election day: May 3
All winning candidates will be sworn in during a City Council meeting in May.
