Public Information Requests

Most information created by the City of Victoria is public information, and available for review by the public. This includes any information that is written, produced, collected, assembled, or maintained under a law or ordinance or in connection with the transaction of official business by the City of Victoria.

Requesting Information

To request public information, please submit a written request to the City. The City Attorney’s office provides the following Public Information Request Form for your convenience.

Your request is important, and the City will make every effort to get the information to you as quickly as possible. If your request will require more than 10 business days to fulfill, you will be notified.

There are, of course, exceptions. The Texas Public Information Act protects certain information from public release. In most cases, the City is obligated by law to request a determination from the Office of the Attorney General of Texas whether information is subject to an applicable exception to the Act before withholding the requested information. If the City must request a determination, you will receive a copy of that request. You will also receive a copy of the Attorney General’s response directly from the Office of the Attorney General of Texas.
